# Conviction Points

> How CP accrues, when it settles, and what it's for.

Conviction Points are XO's reward and participation currency. CP funds [Parlay](/product/products/parlays) entries and can be paid out by [liquidity rewards](/product/rewards/liquidity-rewards) and [referrals](/product/rewards/referrals).

## How CP accrues

Eligible open positions can accrue CP continuously, by the minute.

Accrued CP stays **unsettled** until an eligible sell or a market close moves it into your global CP balance. Unsettled CP is visible in your portfolio but is not yet spendable.

| State     | Meaning                                          |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Unsettled | Accrued against an open position. Not spendable. |
| Settled   | Moved into your global balance. Spendable.       |

## Eligibility

Both the program and individual markets can be gated. Where CP is promised on a market, the exclusions and caps that apply are shown alongside the promise. Check the market itself rather than assuming a rate carries across.

## Streaks and badges

Your account surface includes a daily check-in streak and badges — Catalyst among them, which can gate creator actions. Streaks and badges are account progression, tracked separately from CP balance.

## Leaderboards

Leaderboards expose Volume, PnL and Validator views with a period filter. They rank activity; they are not themselves a reward.

## Notifications

Notifications have All and Unread tabs, an unread count, mark-one and mark-all-read, and deep links to the relevant market, claim or creator action. Updates arrive over live event streams — if a stream drops, refresh rather than assuming nothing has happened.
